Fundraising Activities

The Society organizes different fundraising activities every year, such as "Hike for Hospice", "Life Up A Life" Christmas Concert and Flag Days, etc.Companies, organisations and schools are also welcome to organise fundraising events for us and help us to promote our guiding principle, "add life to days when days cannot be added to life".

Hike for Hospice

"Hike for Hospice" has been organised since 1992 and it is the biggest annual fundraising activity of the Society.

Every year, our Hike Organising Committee selects a beautiful yet challenging route for hikers. Each team of 4 to 6 hikers is asked to raise a minimum target of HK$20,000, (HK$5,000 for each member) and $5,000 for the individual respectively.

Complimentary breakfast, traditional curry lunch and return transportation services are provided to all participants. All hikers will also receive a commemorative T-shirt and a Certificate of Completion. Those fastest teams and individuals, and the top fundraiser will be awarded with prizes and souvenirs.

Life Up A Life Christmas Concert

Christmas is the season about love and sharing. “Life Up A Life” Christmas Concert is a traditional family concert where families and friends come together to remember those they loved and lost. The Tree of Light will light up for each person remembered.

The concert is held at the St. John’s Cathedral and beautiful Christmas music are performed by The Hong Kong Welsh Male Choir, the SAR Philharmonic and the Filipino Fellowship Choir. And the volunteer association of St. John’s Cathedral – CLARES prepares for the audiences some very nice traditional mulled wine and minced pies in the cathedral garden.

SPHC Flag Day

Through this Flag Day, we aim to raise funds for our Jessie and Thomas Tam Centre (JTTC), which is the first community bereavement support service center in Hong Kong. It offers support to people who have lost a loved one, and its services include individual and family counseling, therapeutic bereavement groups and activities, as well as volunteer support. Since its opening in 1997, JTTC has served over 2,300 families.
